TEMPERATURES

There is no ideal temperature for a sauna.
High temperatures for a sauna are considered those ranging between 80°C and 100°C, but in the USA and Canada the law requires not to exceed 90°C as it is considered dangerous.
Low temperature is considered around 50°C-60°C.
If you pay attention, when you go to a spa you will see sauna "experts" sitting on the benches placed higher up. This is because these are the hottest zones since the heat produced by the sauna tends to rise, making the lower benches cooler zones (always considering temperatures between 50 and 100°C).

CHAMPIONSHIPS

Between 1999 and 2010, the world sauna championships were held in Finland.
They consisted of staying as long as possible in a sauna at a temperature of 110°C while respecting a series of rules such as maintaining an upright sitting position and not drinking alcohol before and after the races. The record, which remained unbeaten, was 3 minutes and 46 seconds.
The event was suspended following the death of 2010 finalist Vladimir Ladyzhensky after 6 minutes in the sauna.

IT DOESN'T MAKE YOU LOSE WEIGHT!

Don't believe those who tell you that taking a sauna will make you slim.
In reality it is an increase in blood circulation and the elimination of toxins that indirectly favors the reduction of fat in areas affected by cellulite. And if you think you have lost weight after a session, we regret to inform you that what you have lost is liquids due to abundant sweating.

AUFGUSS OR LÖYLY

Aufguss, also called löyly (=ventilation, steam throw) is a ritual that is practiced especially in German-speaking countries.
It is performed by the aufgussmeister, the sauna master, who pours water or ice, enriched with essential or balsamic oils, on the stones of the brazier, producing a strong jet of steam. By waving towels, flags, birch or eucalyptus branches and following precise techniques, the ceremonial master moves the hot and humid air inside the sauna in order to distribute it throughout the space.
There are two rituals: the first (Aufguss) is performed at regular intervals by a master, the second (löyly, the original Nordic one) has no fixed schedules or patterns and can be performed by anyone present in the sauna.
