To take care of your hot tub, you need to use some products. For normal cleaning of air and water jets, regular detergents found in the home are sufficient; for biofilm problems, specific products are necessary.

But let's get to the point.

WATER JETS CLEANING

  1. Fill the tub with hot water to about 10 cm above the highest jets.
  2. Turn off the air induction valve so that only water flows through the pipes.
  3. Add detergent to the water. Use approximately 1/4 cup (50 ml) of a low-foam surfactant such as powdered dishwasher detergent for water.
WARNING: do not use acidic detergents because they remove the sealant on the brass and make it dull.
  4. Incorporate 1/2 cup (100 ml) of household bleach. Bleach is an excellent disinfectant. Some manufacturers do not recommend bleach because it could dry out the internal seals, so check with the tub manufacturer to see what they recommend for ongoing maintenance.
  5. Set the jet power to maximum pressure and keep them active for 10-15 minutes. Watch what happens to the water in the tub. It's working!
  6. Deactivate the jets. Drain the tub and refill it with cold water above the jets.
  7. Start the jets again for another 10 minutes.
  8. Turn off and drain the tub. Clean it thoroughly.

AIR JETS CLEANING

  1. Fill the tub. Add hot water to about 15 cm above the air injector holes.
  2. Add detergent to the water. The optimal amount is 2 teaspoons (10 ml) of dish detergent.
  3. Incorporate 1/2 cup (100 ml) of household bleach. Some manufacturers do not recommend bleach because it could dry out the internal seals, so check with the tub manufacturer to see what they recommend.
  4. Turn on the tub and activate the blower for about 2 minutes to mix everything.
  5. Turn off the blower and let the mixture rest for about two hours.
  6. Reactivate the blower and keep it active for about 5 minutes.
  7. Turn off the tub again and drain it. Clean it.
  8. Now comes the most complex part. Fill the tub with hot water, dim the lights and turn on the music. Your tub is ready!

Tips:

  • If bleach is not recommended, use 1 cup (0.23 L) of white vinegar instead.
  • Optionally, you can use a special tub cleaner instead of detergent and bleach.
