Doccia: tutta la verità!

Shower: the whole truth!

Today we dedicate ourselves to the 'bath by spraying with water sprinkled in thin rivulets from a perforated bulb' or, more commonly called, shower.
We will try to answer the questions we most often ask ourselves every time we step on the shower tray.

WHY DO THE BEST IDEAS COME UNDER THE SHOWER?
THANK AUTOMATIC ACTIVITIES!

Flashes of genius manifest when we are engaged in automatic operations, which do not require great mental effort, such as, for example, washing! This, like other activities, allows the unconscious to dedicate itself to associations between ideas and the prefrontal cortex (the decision-making center of the brain) to relax and activate the default mode network, a neural network that works when we are engaged in rest activities. This creates new connections that allow us to find new solutions and ideas.
Moreover, under the shower we are not distracted by activities and objects (smartphones and messages/calls) giving the brain the opportunity to 'vent' arriving at the intuition we hoped would come hours earlier.

DOES TAKING A HOT SHOWER CREATE BENEFIT TO THE BODY? ABSOLUTELY YES!

  1. Hot water stimulates circulation and blood flow, loosens and relaxes joints, tendons, tissues and muscles;
  2. Steam cleanses the skin. Water and steam open the pores of the skin, releasing impurities and facilitating skin cleansing;
  3. The stream of hot water relieves pain, due to stiff neck or shoulder pain. 5/10 minutes and you will feel your muscles relaxed;
  4. Decreases stress and insomnia. the hot shower is considered a natural sedative, calms the body, mind and nerves.

ONE SHOWER A DAY KEEPS THE DOCTOR AWAY? NOT REALLY…

Scientific research shows that washing frequently, especially with excessively hot water, excessively dries the skin, depriving it of the 'good' bacteria that naturally exist on our body.
Moreover, with excessive dryness, the skin is more easily at risk of abrasions, which can easily cause infections.
Parabens (preservatives present in body washes and shampoos), chemical agents and fragrances act aggressively on our skin making us paradoxically more exposed to dermatitis and eczema.
Taking a shower every day, therefore, becomes harmful because it eliminates the protective film present on the skin that protects us from bacteria, maintaining the natural balance of the dermis. By eliminating it and trying to rebuild it with creams and moisturizing products, it is more likely to make the skin oily and therefore get it dirty much more easily.
The ideal? Take a shower every 2-3 days!

ARE THERE THINGS TO DO OR NOT DO IN THE SHOWER? YES AND THERE ARE SEVERAL!

  1. Scrub your feet: it is a safe method to avoid fungi and bacteria.
  2. DO NOT hang the sponge in the shower: It is an object full of dead skin cells that, in a humid environment like the shower, leads to the growth of bacteria.
  3. DO NOT dry yourself too vigorously: avoid rubbing hard or air-drying. The ideal is to use a towel and gently pat the skin, in order to avoid cracks and dry skin.
  4. DO NOT wash your hair every day: washing your hair every day is an unhealthy habit for our hair. it is sufficient to wash it once or twice a week.
  5. Use moisturizer correctly: you should not wait for your skin to be completely dry before applying moisturizer. This is a process that requires damp skin, not completely dry.
  6. DO NOT take showers that are too long: The ideal shower duration is between 5 and 10 minutes, the ideal time to prevent the skin from drying out too much.
  7. DO NOT use only boiling water: a habit that we should all adopt in the shower, is to finish it with a blast of very cold water for about 30 seconds. The benefits obtained from this operation are multiple: better stress tolerance, strengthening of the immune system and better ability to burn fat.
